Well, the Fall tournament date is almost upon us. And in our recent tradition of being untraditional, we are staying in a different location this time around. Reportedly we are staying at a free place in Pentwater, on the lake, courtesy of one of Rob's generous friends. (They must not be Dutch!) Pentwater is apparently not too far north of our usual lodgings, although I have never been there. Plus the name sounds like a bowel disease. (As in "Dave had a bad case of pentwater, so he had to get some metamucil.") Apparently we won't find out the location of the cottage we are staying at until the day prior to the trip. Either Rob's friend is in the witness protection program, or the place is a trailer that changes locations periodically and we're going to be squatting on someone else's land illegally.
What this all really means is that we'll be closer to The Colonial golf course (which finally has it's own web site, amazingly) on Saturday than to Old Channel Trail. Also, Old Channel Trail has an outing on Saturday, which would mean very slow play and a lot of frustration for us, so a golf course lineup change is in order. By the way, on top of having a ton of stupid typographical errors, The Colonial's web site has a really annoying bird sound that plays when you load the page. It really pisses me off. But at least it means I can finally post a link to it.
Right now the tentative plan is for Dave, me, and his brother-in-law John (the fifth Beatle) to play at Diamond Springs the morning of September 7th. Dave has been calling Railside periodically to see about an afternoon tee time there because we have passes to play there, but apparently they are booked and haven't had any cancellations. So I think the plan is to head north to Benona -- probably picking up Rob along the way -- and possibly play there Friday evening, which would also be good. Rolfe has talked about heading up separately to play Benona before we get there, too, but I don't think anything is etched in stone yet.
