The Big Debate: 18 More Holes?

Right now, the group is debating a particularly thorny issue: Rolfe suggested we extend the weekend somewhat by playing another round on Sunday after the final round at Benona. The issue is that both Dave and I have long drives after the tournament, which would mean we would both get home around 8 or 9pm instead of around 2 or 3pm. Currently, some suggestions to resolve this are on the table:

  • Continue as we had originally planned, and all depart after Benona, or

  • Rolfe, Rob and Eric could play at the Thoroughbred, which means Dave at least would drive separately and not play, in order to get home at the normal time, or

  • Rolfe, Rob and Eric play somewhere closer to Rolfe's house, which means Dave would still not play but could leave his car at Rolfe's house so we wouldn't drive separately the whole way, or

  • We could convince Dave to play either at Thoroughbred or somewhere else for a final round.

  • The hard part about this is that none of us had cleared this with family members prior to this point and in fact had committed to being home by the afternoon. Both Dave and I have long drives to consider after the outing.

The bottom line is that it sounds as though three of us will be playing on Sunday, weather permitting, and we will be missing Dave. One idea is that we could call him on his cell phone every hole to ask what he would hit, play a shot in his honor, and then he could be our ghost player for best-ball. Even better if we play snakes: "Sorry, Dave, looks like you four-putted again!"
